I’ve worked in IT for over 20 years, starting out in networking and evolving through different areas of systems, hosting, and web technologies.
Over time, my work has naturally shifted toward helping clients manage and improve their websites, security, and online presence.
My early career began with a WiFi company specialising in external WiFi networks, providing internet access in rural areas where DSL broadband wasn’t available. We would connect WiFi using external antenna's between villages then use a client access points to connect the houses to the main network.
I worked on building and maintaining WiFi hotspots using MikroTik equipment, and I was also involved in developing a M0n0wall-based ticketing system used for selling internet access in internet cafés.
As I continued learning, I moved deeper into Linux systems. This opened the door to a wide range of skills including hosting websites, managing email systems, bandwidth shaping, and general server administration. I also experimented with systems such as ClarkConnect, particularly around network control and traffic management, including early attempts at managing or restricting peer-to-peer traffic.
Alongside this, I explored home-based systems as a hobby, such as Mythbuntu, setting up local networks for TV streaming and recording around the house. That period really strengthened my understanding of how flexible Linux systems can be in real-world environments.
For many years I’ve worked with WordPress, both building and maintaining sites for clients. I also manage website security and software updates, and I host a number of websites myself.
A big part of my client work has involved helping people understand how their websites are performing. This naturally led me into Google Ads and analytics, where I spend a lot of time helping clients see where their traffic comes from, how users interact with their sites, and how campaigns are performing. Long before I knew the term “SEO”, I was already being asked questions about why websites were or weren’t visible online — which sparked a long-term interest in search optimisation and experimentation.
More recently, I’ve started using AI as part of my workflow. It’s been useful in many ways — from restructuring website content, to helping build WordPress plugins, and even writing Python scripts for different projects. It also helps with spelling and typing, which has become increasingly helpful as my eyesight changes. I see it as a second pair of eyes, helping me continue to work efficiently and accurately.

Just over 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa and have not been able to drive since. That change pushed me strongly toward working from home, which has shaped the way I work today.
Rather than slowing me down, it’s pushed me to adapt and keep learning. This website is part of that process — a place for testing ideas, building tools, documenting projects, and exploring things I’ve done in the past and things I want to try in the future.
I don’t want my eyesight to limit what I can do. If anything, it has made me more determined to keep building, learning, and creating.
This site is used as a working space for experiments, SEO testing, development ideas, and documentation of real-world projects.
